Saga Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of Kyushu.
It is surrounded by Fukuoka Prefecture to the east, Nagasaki
Prefecture to the west, the Genkai Sea to north ,and the Ariake
Sea to the south, where the difference between high tide and low
tide is about six meters. The Kyushu Expressway and the Trans-Kyushu
Superhighway pass within the borders of this prefecture, making it
an important part of Kyushu's transportation network.
Saga covers an area of about 2,400 square kilometers, and has a
population of about 880,000. The region is blessed with natural
beauty and to preserve this environment, six prefectural parks and
one quasi-national park have been designated. The climate is mild,
with an average temperature of about 16 degrees Celsius.
Affluent agricultural and fishery products from the fertile land
and sea, together with traditional industries such as porcelain,
are the pride of the people of Saga.
